69th anniversary of Kelly-Hopkinsville encounter

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) – The Kelly-Hopkinsville encounter occurred in 1955, when a family claimed to have been attacked by alien-like creatures.

The incident became one of the most well-known cases in U-F-O lore.

The incident has led to an annual festival in the small community.

“The Sutton family was sitting down to a big, nice family dinner in Kelly, Kentucky, one of the older gentlemen gone out to the well to gather some water. When he said they were visited by what they called 12 little silver men that floated above the ground” said Ginnie Pruitt, operations manager of Visit Hopkinsville.

The festival will take place starting at 4 p.m. on August 21 at the Hopkinsville Visitor Center in the Trail of Tears Commemorative Park.
