UFO Or Drone? ‘Cylinder-Like’ Structure Spotted Flying Over NYC

A ‘flying cylinder’ was spotted over New York City’s LaGuardia Airport on March 25, sparking speculations about it being a UFO, or a drone. An airline passenger, Michelle Reyes, captured a video footage of the object out of her plane, she said on Facebook. She added that she has emailed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about the same. However, authorities have not issued a statement explaining the sighting.

“The first thing I did was email the FAA to let them know what I saw,” she told NewsNation Wednesday. “Maybe it was a safety hazard, but unfortunately I haven’t heard back from them, they didn’t acknowledge my email.”

Reyes said that other passengers on the plane saw the object and were stunned. “It’s a little nerve-wracking that someone else saw what I saw,” she said.

Thomas Wertman, the state director of the Mutual UFO Network in Ohio, told The New York Post that the object was flying at ‘roughly 2,500 feet and was relatively close to the plane as it prepared for landing’. He further explained that the ‘flying cylinder’s’ altitude, shape and location suggest that it was not a news helicopter, a drone or a military-operated aircraft.

“Drones aren’t supposed to fly at that altitude at least legally. If it were something related to [military] defense or law enforcement, you normally wouldn’t see it so close to a major flight lane. That could be a potential hazard,” he told the NY Post.

The video has, however, sparked several social media reactions.

“Oh wow, a UFO sighting over New York City? 🛸🗽 How exciting!” one person said on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.
