Detroit’s UFO Factory is rebranding following a change of ownership.
The Corktown venue has been bought by Roula David, who already owns Spot Lite on the city’s east side. Though he’s changing the name to UFO BAR, he confirmed that the music programme will mostly remain the same.
“I find that UFO is even deeper than the underground,” she told wdet. “We want to preserve that as far as the DJ culture. We’re going to bring in a lot of bands, local and national opportunities that make sense.”
The announcement follows an Instagram post last Monday, June 3rd, that confirmed that the owners of UFO Factory were stepping down. “All will be revealed soon,” the post read. “And fear not, if you loved our UFO Factory then you’re likely to be pleased with the next evolution.”
Launched in 2014, UFO Factory quickly became known for its diverse music programme, spanning house, techno, rock music and more. Submerge affiliate SABETYE will perform there tomorrow, June 13th.
