There’s a chance IMAX revealed Dune: Messiah and Steven Spielberg’s new UFO movie during their investor presentation. It could have been a mistake, but once you plant the seed, it’s hard to control the bubbling up of rumors that arise from such things. While there’s nothing officially confirmed yet, Comic Book and World of Reel detailed the IMAX event in which investors were presented with stats and release schedules, including a presentation that showed the information in question. The document includes titles that would theoretically be released in their state-of-the-art theaters and which could be shot with IMAX cameras, listed as Untitled Dune – Denis Villeneuve by Warner Bros. and The Dish by Universal Pictures.
Of course, those titles refer to Steven Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi film with Josh O’Connor and Emily Blunt and Villeneuve’s Dune: Messiah. The weird thing about this is that such information is now gone. Screenshots were made, and some tweets and reports were made about it, but the titles no longer appear in the IMAX presentation. So, was this the most important mistake of the year in terms of future film announcements? Or is someone trying to fool the entire world by creating a conspiracy? Who knows?

Dune: Messiah and Spielberg’s UFO Film Are a Mystery
Well, sort of. Dune: Messiah is a Warner Bros. project that still hasn’t been materialized per the studio’s schedule, but all signs point to a massive yes. Denis Villeneuve’s script is probably being reviewed, and we have reported a promising release date for the end of 2026. If the “IMAX mistake” turns out to be trustworthy, then it’s just a matter of time until the stars align, and we get more news. In the meantime, we’ll wait for HBO’s series Dune: Prophecy, which will be released in November 2024 and will serve as a prequel to Villeneuve’s films. The show will expand on the origins of the sisterhood known as the Bene Gesserit and will take place 10,000 years before the events of 2021’s Dune.

And then, there’s the mysterious film by Steven Spielberg. The Dish, as IMAX calls it on their vanishing slate, will reunite the director with David Koepp after they worked together in films like Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and War of the Worlds. Koepp’s next project is the solo return to the Jurassic series, as he’s writing the next Jurassic World film. After that, he’ll probably knock on Spielberg’s office and develop the idea that’s supposedly coming from the director. Spielberg will also look towards the sky again, searching for little green men, nearly 20 years after his last alien project, a remake of War of the Worlds.
Dune: Part Two
