Unidentified flying objects and other out of this world characters were plentiful over the weekend in the Mt. Pleasant Township village of Kecksburg, Westmoreland County. A parade featuring costumed characters was part of the two-day Kecksburg UFO Festival, where believers and nonbelievers alike gathered to enjoy food, games, shop and share stories. Kecksburg Volunteer Fire Department holds the annual event, which this year marked 58 years since a UFO was purported to have landed in nearby woods. The festival runs today from noon to 5 p.m. at the fire department grounds, 5129 Water St., Mt. Pleasant.
