(WTAJ) — They say “the truth is out there,” but it’s still hard to discern fact from fiction, especially as Pennsylvania had more than 30 legitimate UFO sightings so far in 2024.
Discs, orbs, cigar-shaped… no one knows what to expect when they look up and see an unidentified flying object in the sky. Could it be a weather balloon? A spy craft? Or could there be little green/gray men in an extraterrestrial spacecraft that traveled thousands of years to be here?
UFO reports peaked in the 1990s. Maybe it was from the sudden success of the X-Files — Mulder always wanted to believe. Maybe it was something — or someone — else.
In Pennsylvania, there have been 29 confirmed UFO sightings so far in 2024 (Jan. 1 – July 2), according to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).

Some of the above sightings were determined to be satellites, aircraft, or even planets/stars. However, it may be hard to confuse a planet or star with a UFO zipping across the night sky.
One of the more commonly misidentified UFOs in the past couple of years is Starlink — Elon Musk’s internet network that is often seen as bright lights in a straight line.
