TOKYO — Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said at a May 29 press conference that no UFOs have been confirmed by the government.
The government’s top spokesperson was being asked about the coming establishment of a multipartisan parliamentary group which will look at measures to deal with unexplained anomalous phenomena, including UFOs. Hayashi answered, “It’s stipulated that every effort should be made to report and analyze any unidentifiable objects in the air that may affect the defense and security of Japan, but no reports of such objects have been confirmed to date.”
Japan’s Defense Ministry in September 2020 issued orders for Self-Defense Forces personnel to record and analyze information pertaining to any UFO sightings.
Hayashi, emphasizing the need to remain vigilant for UFOs going forward, said, “As the security environment around Japan becomes increasingly severe, we recognize the need to take all possible measures to respond to safety-related events, including those involving unidentified objects. We will work closely with other countries to steadily collect and analyze information and take all possible measures to respond.”
