Highlights
- An entertaining Starfield post on Reddit saw players debating over a strange UFO floating above New Atlantis.
- Alongside a mixture of comedic and confused responses, players pointed out that zooming in image makes it clear that the UFO is actually a Starborn.
- Still, the post sparked excitement among those hoping for intelligent aliens to be introduced in Starfield down the road, with players either for or against the franchise taking a hard sci-fi approach.
A Starfield player notices an unidentified flying object roaming the skies of New Atlantis, an event that has some amusing implications. Though the discourse around Starfield was notably mixed during its release, the developers at Bethesda have since meticulously worked on addressing the major technical issues with a string of regular updates. Starfield is arguably a better game than it was at launch, and it keeps getting better.
Most notably, the latest update finally introduced a redesign of Starfield‘s infamous city maps, with many players praising Bethesda for the added functionality, level of detail, and ease-of-use. New Atlantis and Akila City were especially affected by the change, as navigating through the streets has never been easier. However, Starfield still has some notable shortcomings, and players are hoping that the team at Bethesda will keep hammering away at the game.

Starfield Fans Are Loving the Game’s Latest Update
Starfield’s latest big update seems to be a huge hit for fans as players praise many of the new improvements Bethesda has brought to the experience.
While walking through the streets of New Atlantis during their playthrough, suzichi couldn’t help but notice an unidentified flying object in the sky. This advanced starship boasted no familiar design, at least not one tied to any ship manufacturer present in the game. However, players in the know will easily recognize the ship as belonging to the Starborn. As a faction, the Starborn in Starfield are an antagonistic force for the majority of the main quest, and a key part of the story lies in uncovering their mysterious identity.
Should Starfield Have Had Sentient Aliens?
The idea of Starborn being aliens is frequently toyed around before ultimately being dismissed, and the lack of any sentient aliens sets Starfield apart from other sci-fi settings. Though it should be noted that Terrormorphs come closest to fitting the criteria, they have only proven capable of mimicking sentience, rather than being sentient themselves. To present an analogy, Terrormorphs are closer to ChatGPT than to true AI. While the early space exploration era was a refreshing take for Starfield, many players feel that not having any sentient aliens to interact with was a missed opportunity.
Many players would argue that the Settled Systems were at their most engaging when they were at their most alien. House Va’ruun remains one of the most debated topics in the Starfield community precisely because they are so unlike the other factions in the Settled Systems. The Starborn ship floating above New Atlantis could be an alternate universe version of the player spying on themselves, or it could just be the Starborn keeping an eye on Constellation. Though it’s unlikely that Starfield will ever answer this question outright, it will at least embrace the more alien side of its lore – as Shattered Space will have a major focus on House Va’ruun and its culture.
