Ring doorbell owners have the chance of snatching themselves a fortune should they manage to capture footage of an extra-terrestrial on the camera technology
People often capture incredible things on their Ring Video doorbells and now owners could become millionaires if theirs proves we are not alone in the universe.
For decades people have caught bizarre and unexplained encounters on video, as well as the events of everyday life. In recent years, the invention of video doorbells means people have caught villains trying to break into their homes as well as all manner of things.
Now, the invention could help land someone a small fortune – and all they have to do is capture an alien on their camera. Ring owners have until November 3 to hand over their proof to the firm when a meteorologist and astrobiologist will check it over for authenticity. Once confirmed, the winner will land $1million (£800,000) to be handed over in instalments over 20 years. Non-believers also have the chance of landing some cash as the best fake will win $50,000 (£40,000), says ABC.
In April a dad-of-three was left astonished when he caught footage of what he believed to be a “flying angel” on his Ring door cam and wondered if it could have been the spirit of his dead father watching over him and his family. Robert Mansfield, 33, couldn’t believe his eyes when partner Stephanie Scott, 31, showed him a video taken while she and seven-year-old son Oskar Scott were returning from a dog walk on March 7. Footage shows the mother and son pair approaching their front door with Maltese and Pomeranian cross Klo, just as a white mark appears above them in the night sky. The mysterious mark then drifts upwards, before vanishing altogether.
Robert had been just 14 years old when he lost his dad, Mick Mansfield, who died at the age of 44. He says the clip has brought him some comfort, especially as the family has had a “tough time” of late after Klo lost an eye following an attack by another dog.
Robert, from Beaumont Leys, Leicestershire, said: “We’ve had a tough time recently, so seeing something like that makes you think someone’s out there watching out for you. We always say my dad is my kids’ guardian angel so seeing something like that is heart-warming. It might be him. I’ve never experienced something like this before, it was amazing and it gave us comfort.
“When Stephanie showed me she asked if it’s an angel because you can see the wings flapping. I told her it can’t be because I’m not a huge believer in stuff like that, but when I looked into it I was really surprised and realised it could actually be something.”
